NONCOMPLIANCE with the laws in the conventional cosmetics industry

"Of the 150.000 chemicals used, 8.000 end up in cosmetics. With small, hard to understand print, it is easy to buy one of these products if they come camouflaged with pleasant scents and low cost"

The Spanish regulations on cosmetic products - specifically Royal Decree 1599/1997 of October 17 and Community Directive 2003/15 / EC of February 27, transposed into national law on September 11, 2004 - defines them as "any substance or preparation intended to be put in contact with the various superficial parts of the human body (epidermis, hair and capillary system, nails, lips and external genital organs) or with the teeth and oral mucous membranes for the sole or main purpose of cleaning them, perfume them, modify their appearance and / or correct body odors and / or protect and keep them in good condition ''.

The law says that cosmetics, that is, everything that is applied to our body: perfumes, shampoos, depilatory creams, soaps, bronzers, etc., cannot contain substances classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic. At first glance, we see in the labels of many products, the breach of these laws Prestigious brands, are defended emphasizing that the amount used of these ingredients is very small, without taking into account that most people use them to diary. The fact is, little by little we are accumulating more and more elements in the body.

The label, how to understand it? INCI

Surely, we all wonder why the ingredients of the cosmetics are not in Spanish. In the early 1980s, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) established the rule according to which ingredients must appear on labels. This rule is called INCI, (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) and establishes that the names of the substances must appear in Latin, placed in order from highest to lowest quantity. All this, so that the consumer has as much information as possible. Thus, the more natural ingredients that appear first, the more natural the product will be.

What options do I have to use reliable cosmetics?

Very opposite to traditional cosmetics, on the other side of the balance, we have natural, ecological, bio, non-toxic cosmetics, etc. There are many synonyms that can be used to define this new era of personal care products; ‘The boom’ they are experiencing is very positive.

Ozono D'or is committed to a dermo-cosmetic line of “Without” products: without parabens, without silicones, without EDTA, without artificial colorants, without chemicals, without sulfates (SLS-SLES), without aluminum… in short, toxic-free dermocosmetics suitable for be used as many times as necessary.

They are suitable for vegans, that is, they do not contain ingredients of animal origin, and they are not tested on animals.

It is not easy to change when we are used to using the same brand of products for many years, but consumers, by themselves, are realizing the damage to which they are being subjected. And they are the ones who call or write to us requesting our natural products, which are much more than beauty products, since they protect the skin from bacteria and infections that cause skin problems, such as dermatitis for example. They combine beauty and well-being.

If you want to go natural, avoid buying cosmetics that contain:

  • Aluminium. Aluminum. Deodorants.
  • Mineral oils: Paraffins (parafinum liquidum), Petrolatum. Lip balms.
  • Triclosan. Triclosan. Soaps, toothpastes.
  • “ --paraben”. Parabens. Creams
  • PhthalatesNail polish, lipstick.
  • Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Shampoo.
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Shampoo.
  • Nanoparticles (nano). Sunscreens.

Unfortunately, the list is much longer. And we also tell you what you should take into account when buying a natural cosmetic:

  • Make sure the ingredients appear in Latin, that is, according to the INCI nomenclature.
  • Note that it contains less than 30 ingredients. If it contains more, you begin to doubt that it is an ecological product.
  • Discard them if they say with fruit essences. Fruits do not contain oils, therefore it is impossible to extract oils.
  • If you read the phrase 'reconstituted natural extracts' it could be imitations of the smell or properties of some plant.
  • It is false that "bio" cosmetics are more expensive than traditional ones. In  www.ozonodor.es you can find them at very affordable prices and they are toxic free, manufactured in our own white room.
