Fluoride Vs. Ozone: Impact on Oral and Dental Hygiene
A randomized experiment was conducted to elucidate the disinfectant and antiplaque ability of a well-known brand of fluoride toothpaste (colgate) compared to our new ozone toothpaste. A group of people made up of individuals of both sexes and aged between 25 and 55 years, carried out dental hygiene treatment with FLUOR toothpaste for 15 days; and another different group, also with a similar composition of individuals, performed the dental hygiene treatment with our new toothpaste made with OZONE, without fluoride. Swab samples were taken before and after brushing with each toothpaste, on the first day and fifteen days after the start of both treatments. These swabs were then cultured to identify the total number of microorganisms under general aerobic conditions.
*% reduction of microorganisms calculated as the percentage of microorganisms before and after applying the toothpaste treatment.
This test shows the antibacterial power of ozone toothpaste, equal to that of fluoride, but totally harmless to humans, animals or the environment.
Fluoride Vs. Ozone:
Impact on the environment The rose periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don) is a flowering plant, endemic to Madagascar, and is included in the Apocynaceae family. This plant has ornamental and important medicinal uses, and in our case, it is the model organism in an experiment that aims to elucidate the impact of fluoride on plants against ozone. A TIME LAPSE experiment was carried out for 5 days, in a greenhouse with controlled conditions: temperature (26 ± 2 ° C), relative humidity (60 ± 10% RH), photoperiod (16h day / 8h night), and a light emission of 8000 lx. The properties of the camera and the software in the Time Lapse experiment were as follows: Nikon D60; manual focus [ISO-200. f / 5. 1 / 50s. Focal length 28-30 mm). Camera control pro 2 software (Nikon company): automatic shooting at 2 hour intervals. The healthy and well-watered plants underwent two different treatments: the plant on the left (pink pot) was watered with a SODIUM FLUORIDE solution, while the plant on the right (blue pot) was watered with an OIL solution OZONATED. The content of both solutions corresponds to the content of these active ingredients in their respective toothpastes.
Symptoms of stress due to fluorine anion toxicity began with wilting of the stems and leaves (1 day after the start of the trial, DSA), followed by subsequent necrosis (4-5 DSA). Plants treated with ozonated oil did not show any stress symptoms throughout this experiment and have not yet shown any.
